End of Week 14 Review

A busy week in any primary school is the penultimate week of Term 1. Nativity plays, Christmas lunches, practical sessions in Science, DT and Food Technology (soup!) have dominated the learning space. It has been a great week to introduce the new design on the Mr G Golden Sticker:

“Train Up A child” is emblazoned on it as it reflects the effort our pupils make during the school day. It should compliment our rainbow sticker effectively and energise conversation at home as to “why did you get this?!”.

Christmas lunch was a real treat to watch unfold. Hats, music, good food and company was the order of the day and our 17 boxes of Christmas crackers were enjoyed by all. The jokes haven’t improved over the years, but still great to see our pupils put more effort into reading them than into finishing off their sprouts; “a passion for reading” indeed:

Please do accept my genuine thanks for everything you have done as families in supporting Thurlbear school with a wealth of items for the Fair. There was no sign of donation fatigue today, when many items were brought in to support our raffle. Every penny raised will go directly to our pupils’ learning and your support is incredible. It isn’t just school where you have leant your support. ARC have also benefited from your efforts, and they have thanked everyone for teh boxes that have now been suppliued to their drop-off locations in Taunton:

Our local community is full of enrichment at this time of year, and it is well worth bringing to your attention some of the wonderful work of the Seven Sowers Benefice:

Our final week is always a busy time for classes, with plenty of learning still to do:

Mr Gunstone clubs will be on next week.

Monday: Over Christmas, it is likely that lots of pupils will receive brand new technology, with many having access to the online world. ON Monday, we will publish some of the latest guidance to help families set up gadgets in a safer way, ensuring safety sits alongside fun.

Thursday: Key stage 2 carols at the Church. Details are on Class Dojo for families.

Friday: We are hoping for a special guest appearance
End of term.
