It has been a very busy week around school, with World Book Day celebrations dominating the latter part of the week. From raps in Year 6 to book covers in Key Stage 1, it was a real celebration of what reading meant to our pupils. Thanks to Holly for sharing a lovely book and bringing in some wooden animals for TT@T. It would be great to see more families at the next one! The photo below was Phoebe’s brilliant idea: A jar full of clues all about her favourite author and we had to pull one out and guess!

It wasn’t just reading. Chestnuts have been hard at work creating all kinds dens and buildings in their outdoor space over the past few weeks. Their creativity and teamwork has shone through and they are a brilliant to observe hard at work together.

Within school, our THRIVE IN 25 thinking has kickstarted a change around in our use of rooms in the school. Today (Friday) has been a very busy day as we have changed around our staffroom space, allowing all pupils to now be in our main buildings for interventions, sensory spaces and Thrive rooms. It has already had a very positive impact on the pupils and now means our kitchen (once the small staffroom) is now available as a learning kitchen! We are ordering the new oven and hob very soon bought by PTA money + Dress Down Friday contributions and, after installation, will be available for larger groups to do cooking. The Easter Holidays will also be the time our Years 4,5 and 6 hallway is refitted with new flooring and more rooms will be painted.
NEXT WEEK:
Monday: Year 6 travel to Taunton Racecourse for a learning day based on ‘maths in action’, plus getting to see the races in the afternoon and, in the past, have even presented the prize for the last-race winners!
Wednesday: Mrs Suddaby-Newman will be attending some Lego Block Therapy training, which will strengthen our own offer in school via Thrive sessions for individuals and small groups.
Friday: It’s the turn of our Year 1s for a Celebration Worship and then onto the SPRING DISCO! More details to come.
