Week 10 Updates and Review

Our Early Years and Key Stage 1 pupils have been been producing some interesting learning, this week. History has featured heavily in the historic vocabulary of Rowan Class, and their presentation in the form of a double-page spread reflects an approach across the year groups and championed by teachers for this academic year. We are looking to see how we can present our substantive and disciplinary knowledge as pupils progress through the year groups.

Year 2’s Celebration Worship, last week, highlighted some of the wonderful autumn-inspired art they have been doing and, in particular, their mixing of media such as wax crayon and inks. It was a real privilege to walk around the room and watch them in deep study of the leaves set out before them by Mrs Baldwin:

In other curriculum news, to mark our achievement of providing equal access to girls’ football over the last academic year, we have been awarded the Barclay’s Equal Access School Award 2024! We are incredibly proud of this and real credit to all the girls that have represented us over the past years, as well as to Mr Gunstone (himself a successful girls’ football coach) and Miss Crook (a player at Bishops Lydeard FC) for their guidance and drive in our girls’ football training and attendance at events. It really is great timing, as our girls’ team has just won the small schools event and qualified for the Small Schools’ County Football Finals AGAINWe are the defending champions!

Teachers have shared their curriculum letters across our parental engagement spaces, such as Class Dojo, and families should be able to see what the class focus is for the coming weeks and you should get a full flavour of exactly what the children are learning. Please let us know if you haven’t seen a newsletter. One example from Year 6 is their design and technology projects…powered by PTA-funded electrical boxes! Once again, your donations are going directly into helping us purchase components to keep our practical sessions fully-equipped and wide-ranging:
