Thurlbear teachers have just finished a brilliant, extended Staff Meeting led by Esero-UK and we will have exciting news regarding Thurlbear and the Space Education Quality Mark coming out to you very soon!

It was a real pleasure for Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 to listen to some of our pupils perform along with Carolyn Tudor, using the Nuvo “toot” mini flute ‘Windstars 1’ scheme. George in Year 1 proudly explained it to me and it looks like a fantastic gateway into playing an instrument. Carolyn will be running a taster session during the summer holidays and you can find out more from the Taunton Brewhouse website or by calling the box office on 01823 283244. I am not aware of any minimum age grouping, so give them a call and discuss it further if you are interested.

I am delighted to announce that we have had a very successful round of interviews and, from September, we will have new TAs joining us to replace the brilliant staff that have recently left. It will mark an exciting new chapter in our pupils’ lives as we introduce them all on our “Moving Up Day”, when they will be joining their new classes. Teachers will be staying in their current year groups, so our set-up will be:

Chestnut: Miss Kelloway and Mrs Chedzoy

Rowan: Mrs Lucas and Miss Davenport

Cherry: Mrs Baldwin and Miss Davenport

Hazel: Miss Crook

Willow: Mrs Foster-Burnell

Pine: Mrs Collings and Miss Davenport

Oak: Miss Warrington

Sports Coach: Mr Gunstone

Next week, I will be taking photographs of the class teams for the whole school to celebrate and recognise.
