VE Day thoughts

We gathered as a school and shared some thoughts, this morning:

“Good morning, everyone!
Today, we are here to remember and celebrate a very important day in history: VE Day, which stands for Victory in Europe Day. On this day, 8th May 1945, the Second World War ended in Europe. It was a day of great joy and relief for millions of people who had lived through years of war and hard experiences.
Imagine how happy people must have felt when they heard the news that the war was over. There were celebrations in the streets, with people singing, dancing, and waving flags. It was a time to be thankful for peace and to remember the bravery and sacrifices of those who fought for our freedom, and to hope for better times ahead.
VE Day is also a time for us to think about the importance of peace and kindness. The war showed us how important it is to work together and help each other, with acts of friendship, no matter where we come from or what we believe. By being kind and respectful to everyone, we can make sure that our world stays peaceful and happy, and we use wisdom to learn from the actions of the past.
So, as we remember VE Day, let's take a moment to be thankful for the peace we enjoy today and to think about how we trust in each other to make our school, our community and our world a better place for everyone.
May God Go With You.”
