Welcome to Pine Class! We have a super learning team in year 5 and our staff are Mrs Collings (Monday – Wednesday), Mrs Chedzoy (Thursday and Friday), Mrs Warrington and Mr Selwood. We are a friendly and cheerful year 5 class and we are especially enthusiastic about discovering books together and learning through our reading. We are excited to undertake lots of great learning opportunities together this year. This term we have started of the year with the theme of rivers.
During year 5 we will enjoy being some of the older children in the school and develop the independence and confidence that goes with this. We will be setting homework for the week on a Tuesday that your child will bring home in their green homework book. This is maths, spelling and a writing activity each week and is due in on the following Monday morning. We have already been impressed with some of the excellent home learning that has been completed. Please also support your child to keep reading at home. It is important at this stage that you hear them read aloud during the week and discuss their book with them as well as encouraging them to develop their own personal reading habit. Particularly discuss new vocabulary and the meanings of words that they come across in their reading. Please sign the back of the homework book weekly where you will find your child’s reading log.
