Headteacher's message

Our vision is to be an irresistible Church School; for us to be place where an enriching, loving and safe learning experience leads to great life chances in the future...

Our School Values are all based in Christian Values: Thankfulness, Hope, Friendship, Wisdom and Trust.

We are committed to nurturing the whole child: mind, body and the spirit. With the help of parents and carers, we encourage pupils to achieve high academic standards while taking responsibility for themselves and others. Achievement, through working together in a Christian school ethos, is always nurtured and celebrated. We are here for those of all faiths and those of no faith. Our Church school values run through our daily school life and we are better school because of this. On the side of our school can be found our Foundation Stone of 1872. It holds the Proverb "Train up a Child in the Way He Should Go". 150 years later, we use this as the driving vision for all we do and we do our very best to train our children in the way they should go into secondary school life and beyond.

Welcome to Thurlbear CE VA Primary School. Here, we aim to provide an education for the ‘whole’ child. Such an education would both realise and appreciate their capabilities and talents, as well as academic achievements. To do this, we provide a safe, happy, caring and stimulating environment in which children, teachers and parents all play their part. The school is a thriving, small community within a larger one. In any community, the rights and freedoms of an individual are acceptable only if they do not infringe on the rights and freedoms of others. The Christian Foundation of the school underpins the values we promote and, with this in mind, we have close links with our family of churches supported by Rev Joanna Porter and the Seven Sowers Benefice.

I’m looking forward to working together with you and your child.
