Covid-19 Updates

the very latest text from Julian Wooster, Director of Children’s Services:

“Return of Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (CEV) school children and young people
– 2 December 2020
Attached is a copy of a letter and associated guidance, which has been sent out nationally to people who are considered Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (CEV) to the effects of COVID19.
The guidance is set out as advice to families not a set of mandated rules. It strongly encourages all children and young people who are CEV to now return to school or college irrespective of the Tier of restrictions designated to a specific area.
Therefore, please plan to expect the majority of your pupils, who were previously designated as CEV, to return on and from the 2nd December.
A very small number of children, whose care is overseen by a specialist hospital team may still be advised to remain off school and these children will already have received advice to this effect from their respective Consultant teams and this information will have been shared with the child’s GP. Except in these very small number of cases and in line with the latest national guidance, all other CEV children are encouraged to return to school.
Schools are of course asked to continue with the general COVID precautions already in place.
Any families who remain unsure or concerned about their CEV child attending school should contact their Hospital Consultant Team.
If you have any queries about this letter, please contact your school nurse.
Yours sincerely
Julian Wooster
