A message from your PTA:
At the AGM in October the School asked the PTA to consider financially supporting two urgent needs for the School. The first being new IT equipment for use across the Year Groups and the second to upgrade the educational learning/play resources in the area outside Chestnut Class which is looking rather tired.
At the PTA meeting last night we signed a cheque for an incredible £4,749.69 to purchase a green screen kit, 18 Bee Bots for the children to learn programming, 7 new chrome books, 9 new tablets for the teachers, some visualisers and data loggers. This kit will massively enhance the Computing provision at the School.
In addition, the PTA are very excited to have pledged to support up to £5,000 to upgrade the outdoor learning resources and play area at Chestnut Class. We will keep you in the loop on how this project develops and will be calling on your painting skills in due course for us to hold a community day to repaint the fencing around that area and make it look like new.
These two significant donations have only been achieved by the incredible Thurlbear Community who have supported our events through buying raffle tickets, providing raffle prizes, supporting cake sales, taxi-ing children to discos and helping at events. Without your support and enthusiasm we would not have raised such significant funds which are now going directly back into the classroom so that all our children and the staff can benefit from our efforts.”
Message from Mr G:
This incredible news will give a direct and positive impact on our computing across our curriculum. The teacher tablets alone will provide us with an opportunity to capture those brilliant learning moments in classes, which we struggle to do at the moment due to a lack of feasible hardware. Along with the other purchases, it will be exciting to share with you, in the future, just what an impact this will make across Thurlbear School. Thanks for all your hard work and generosity!
