On 2nd March, the NEU will be encouraging its members to
take industrial action that will affect schools and academies in
Somerset. Hopefully, there will be some breakthrough between government minsters
and representatives in the meantime. Whilst all efforts are being made to
maintain essential services to our pupils, regrettably
the industrial action will mean that we will
not be able to provide
our usual level of education on that day.
Teachers are under no
obligation to tell school leaders whether or not
they plan to strike. Teachers, however, have been in dialogue with me and Chestnut
(FS), Cherry (Y2), Hazel (Y3) and Willow (Y4) classes will be affected
initially. THESE CLASSES WILL, THEREFORE, BE ASKED TO STAY AT HOME ON THURSDAY.
If families of these pupils
need urgent childcare within school, due to
adults being critical workers and not able to find a source of childcare at home,
please contact Mr Gillan: Office@thurlbearprimaryschool.co.uk
I will send further
communication to families closer to the day and
with any general answers from questions that come in. This decision is not taken
lightly by anyone at Thurlbear.
