Our Position on LFD Testing

LFD Testing:I have contacted Somerset Council Public Health consultants to discuss the position on lateral flow device testing in primary schools, moving forwards. They said:”Primary age pupils will not be tested with LFDs. Public Health England have advised there are currently limited public health benefits attached to testing primary pupils with lateral flow devices. Primary age pupils may find the LFD testing process unpleasant and are unable to self-swab. PHE will review this approach in the light of any emerging evidence.” Schools coronavirus (COVID-19) operational guidance (publishing.service.gov.uk) Therefore, until we are given another update, our stance is not to pursue LFD testing in our school for PUPILS (all staff will maintain their twice-weekly regime). Should you wish to order home kits, on a voluntary basis, this link will help (you have to be over 18 to use the service):
