Week 11 Review / Preview for Week 12

A number of notices for families, this week and into next:

Raffle tickets have all gone home and thanks to those that have already purchased and returned the stubs – if you don’t enter, you don’t win! The PTA poster is here for you to spot your class rainbow colour for any contributions you can kindly give us. Please note that the THURSDAY Dress Down simply replaces the usual Friday, due to our Easter Services and celebrations on the last day. As always, I personally and professionally thank you all for such brilliant support for our PTA events. Every penny raised goes into improving the lives of our pupils.

– Whilst discussing PTA events, the impact of your support can be found in the ways that our teachers utilise the money raised. Last week, Year 5 were involved workshop called ‘Journey to the Moon’ with expert astronomer Jo Richardson, an ESERO-UK Space Ambassador! ESERO-UK, also known as the UK Space Education and Resource Office, inspire children through the medium of space to be involved in more in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Due to Mrs Collings’ booking – and the PTA funding this session – we now have a chance to be a school going for the Space Education Quality Mark, led by Jo! This is a whole-school endeavour and will help us drive STEM across our year groups. Without the PTA funding, this would not have been possible.

– It is always sad to say goodbye to a part of the Thurlbear family, and doubly so for us.
Miss Weech heads off, next week, into a different field of work. She has been a great TA for us in her time, here, and everyone wishes her the very best of luck for her future.
Mrs Strong has been a wonderful teacher and we were very lucky to get her as a maternity cover professional in Chestnut Class. Next week is her last week with us, as she has acquired an excellent, permanent role in Somerset. She has made a great impact on our school and I thank her for the foundation she has given our Chestnuts.

– Our clubs are being finalised with staff and Mr Gunstone and will be out early next week. Great news that we have an eager parent to bring back Healthy Metres Matters! TBC!
