Here are our INSET dates (green) included in the overall holiday dates for the academic year 2021 – 2022. We have tried to look at the opportunities to attach INSET dates onto existing holidays, so that families can maximise the potential for any breaks being planned in the year.
As always, school staff are involved in continual professional development on these days. In the past, our INSET days have been used for:
safeguarding updates and Continual Professional Development; assessment and feedback CPD; Special Education Needs and Disabilities CPD; learning styles CPD, creative writing and fire training. We regularly have guest speakers, experts in their field, to deliver training.
Schools must be open for pupils for 190 days of the year, but teachers must be available for 195 days, meaning 5 days are set aside for specific training relevant to the staff needs or interests. This means that pupils are not ‘missing’ days of school, as they are an addition to the teaching year!
